As the largest city in Italy’s prosperous north, Milan is known the world over as a center of industry and culture. Its special blend of cosmopolitism, which draws on tradition with an eye to the future, is reflected in everything from the city’s art and architecture to the way its citizens work and have fun. (Racing extremely expensive cars comes to mind.) Heavily influenced over the centuries by its neighbors and today home to a large immigrant population, Milan is also home to a hodgepodge of cultures.
