“I’m into being sampled, but I’m not as into collaborating, because there are so many people involved. When you’re just sampled, you don’t have to do any work, you don’t have to talk to anybody, you don’t have to sit there and fight for your song. You just get paid.”

Nightswimming Ep. 8 for Space Invader Radio by Nightswimming on Mixcloud
Nightswimming Ep. 8 for Space Invader Radio
Here we are at the last episode of 2012. I decided not to feature a best of the year but a mix of new songs and oldies…but can you tell which is which without looking at the playlist?
Of course Chromatics are featured (definitely my favourite record of the year) with two tracks from the upcoming vol. 2 sampler of the Italians Do It Better label (one of which is a fab New Order cover). Also unexpectedly - as i compiled the mix a week ago - the Pitchfork song of the year, Oblivion by Grimes (yay for my taste, I guess?) and foulmouthed newcomer Chlöe Howl.
And happy holidays!
PS: the Space Invader Radio mix will return in January 2013 with a new schedule (and a new Nightswimming avatar). will keep you posted.
Tune in tonight for a brand new episode of Nightswimming for Space Invader Radio at 7pm CET (6 UK time), with the freshest nu disco and synth pop. A brand new Chromatics song is featured as well as Moullinex and Wild Nothing. But we open with Maestro Moroder and one of his most famous soundtracks.
(keep an eye on my mixcloud where all the shows and playlists are posted)
What’s next for you and Chromatics?
We will be focused mainly on touring for the rest of the year, and will be spending a lot of time in the studio this winter, working on the next album, as well as some soundtrack work. There will be a “Looking For Love” 12” coming out that has the full 17-minute version on one side, and the instrumental on the other. We also have three tracks on the upcoming “After Dark 2” compilation, including an Iggy Pop and James Williamson cover. Around Christmas we will be releasing a mail-order only LP called “Running From The Sun,” which has a few alternate mixes from the Kill for Love album along with 5 or 6 unreleased tracks. In 2013 we will be hitting the road again with Glass Candy, which we are really looking forward to.
